1. Agreement to these terms

These terms govern your use of SylhetiSpouse. Our registered company details are set out at the end of these terms. By registering you agree to these terms in full. If you do not agree, do not use the platform. Please also read our Privacy Policy and, if you subscribe, our Membership and Payment Terms. Please also read our Safety and Enforcement Policy at sylhetispouse.co.uk/safety, which forms part of these terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be 18 or over.
You must be legally free to marry, meaning you are single, divorced, widowed, or your previous marriage has been annulled.
You must be genuinely seeking a marriage partner.
A family member may register on behalf of an applicant. If you register on behalf of someone else, you confirm that they are aware of the registration, have agreed to it, and have seen these terms and our Privacy Policy. The person whose profile it is remains responsible for its accuracy.

3. Your account

You must verify your email address before accessing the platform.
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and must not share your account with anyone else.
Notify us at support@sylhetispouse.co.uk if you become aware of unauthorised use of your account.

4. Your profile

All information you submit must be truthful and accurate. You are responsible for its accuracy.
Keep your profile up to date if your circumstances change.
Do not include contact details, addresses, workplaces, social media handles, links, or other people's personal information in any profile field other than the designated contact number field.
Profiles are reviewed by an administrator before becoming visible. We may decline a profile at our discretion. Where a profile is declined, we will tell you why, and you may be able to make changes and resubmit it.
Contact number: male members may enter their own number, or the number of a parent or family member, which we recommend. Female members should enter the contact number of their Wali (Islamic guardian).
If the number you provide belongs to someone else, you must have their permission. By submitting the field you confirm the number is correct, that the person it belongs to knows it may be shared with potential matches, and that they have agreed to this.

5. Photos

Photos are optional. You may upload up to two photos of yourself.
Photos are private. They are not displayed on your profile and cannot be browsed by other members.
Another member may request to see your photos. Nothing is shown unless you approve that request. Once approved, each photo is visible to them for a maximum of 20 seconds.
All photos are reviewed by an administrator before they can be shared, and we may reject any photo that does not meet our standards.
Photos must be a clear, recent image of you, must be modest and appropriate for a matrimonial platform, and must not contain other identifiable people. Do not upload photos you do not have the right to use.
When a photo is viewed, the viewing member's profile code is displayed over it. This is a deterrent against screenshots and copying, but it cannot prevent them. Please bear this in mind when deciding whether to upload a photo or approve a request.
You must not screenshot, record, copy, save or share another member's photo by any means.

6. Member conduct

These rules apply to all members, free and paid. Breaking them may result in your profile being removed, your account suspended, or a permanent ban. If you are a paid member and are removed for breaching these rules, you will not receive a refund for the unused portion of your subscription.

The rules in this section are our acceptable use rules. How we detect breaches, handle reports and apply sanctions is set out in our Safety and Enforcement Policy at sylhetispouse.co.uk/safety.

Honesty

Do not lie about or misrepresent your age, marital status, whether you have children, your legal status in the UK, your occupation, or any other profile information.
Do not impersonate anyone else or create a profile using another person's identity or photos.
Do not create more than one account.

Intentions

Use the platform only for genuine matrimonial purposes.
Do not use the platform to seek casual relationships, friendship, or anything other than marriage.
Do not use the platform for recruitment, promotion, advertising, or any commercial purpose.

Respect and conduct

Treat every member with respect and dignity.
Do not harass, threaten, insult, pressure or repeatedly contact anyone who has declined your interest.
Do not send abusive, obscene, sexual or inappropriate messages or content.
Do not make racist, casteist, tribal or discriminatory remarks about anyone's ethnicity, region, family background, appearance or level of religious practice.
Do not attempt to shame, blackmail, or spread information about another member.

Photos and privacy

Do not upload indecent, revealing, sexual or inappropriate images.
Do not upload photos of anyone other than yourself.
Do not screenshot, record, save, copy or share another member's photo. This is a serious breach and will result in immediate removal.
Do not publish or post another member's details, photos or profile information anywhere online, including social media, messaging groups or public forums.

Personal information

Do not put your phone number, email address, home address, workplace, social media handles or links anywhere in your profile.
Contact details are shared only through the platform's own process, once both members have confirmed.

Islamic conduct

Female members should provide a Wali (guardian) contact number. Do not attempt to bypass this requirement.
Once contact details are shared, conduct all communication respectfully and appropriately, with family involvement as is proper.
Do not pressure another member into private or unsupervised contact.

Platform integrity

Do not use bots, scrapers or automated tools.
Do not attempt to access any part of the platform or another member's account without authorisation.
Do not attempt to bypass any restriction, limit, payment requirement or safety feature.

Serious prohibited conduct

Do not use the platform in connection with trafficking, forced marriage, coercion, or any marriage arranged for immigration advantage.
Do not offer, solicit or advertise escort services, sexual services, adult content or any commercial sexual activity.
Do not upload, share or request any image of a child in any sexual or indecent context. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material and report it to the Internet Watch Foundation and the police.
Do not use the platform for fraud, blackmail, extortion or any other criminal offence.
Breaches of this subsection result in immediate suspension, permanent removal, no refund, and referral to the police.

Reports and enforcement

If you believe another member has breached these rules, report it to safety@sylhetispouse.co.uk. You do not need an account to make a report.
Every report is investigated. All reports are acknowledged automatically on receipt. Reports concerning child safety, threats to life, trafficking, coercion or non-consensual content are reviewed the same day. Other reports are reviewed within 2 to 5 working days. Full timescales are in our Safety and Enforcement Policy.
We review the reported account, its activity history and any previous reports. We may contact you for further detail, and we may contact the reported member.
Where we identify a pattern of behaviour across more than one account, we treat it as a single case and act against all accounts involved.
The outcome may be no action, a warning, a feature restriction, the profile being taken offline until corrected, suspension, or permanent removal. The decision on outcome is ours.
If we suspend or remove your account we will tell you the reason, and you may appeal within 30 days.
Where an account is removed for a breach of these rules, no refund is payable for any unused portion of a subscription.
Where a breach involves a criminal offence, we report it to the police and preserve records.
If a person is in immediate danger, call 999.

7. Use of the platform

Once approved you may browse profiles of the opposite gender and express interest in them.
If a member accepts your interest, contact numbers are not shared automatically. Both members must separately confirm on the site that they wish to share numbers. Only then are the numbers shown on the platform. Contact numbers are never sent by email.
Either member may archive a match at any time. Archiving a match where numbers have already been shared withdraws the contact details, and they are no longer visible to either side.
The platform's role ends once contact details are shared. We have no involvement in or responsibility for any contact or meeting that takes place afterwards.
You must use any contact details shared through the platform only for respectful matrimonial contact.

8. Membership

Access to the core features of the platform, including viewing full profiles, expressing interest, sharing contact numbers and using the photo feature, requires a paid subscription, unless you hold a Free Membership under section 9.
Members without a subscription have limited access. They can see a summary view of other profiles, and their own profile is not shown to other members.
Full details of pricing, billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds are set out in our Membership and Payment Terms, which form part of these terms and which you must agree to at the point of purchase. Nothing will be charged to you without that agreement.
Your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law are not affected by these terms.
We may suspend, remove or permanently ban any member at any time if we reasonably believe they have breached these terms or any applicable law. Paid members removed for such a breach will not be entitled to a refund for the unused portion of their subscription.

9. Promotional Free Membership

Free Membership was offered as a promotional gesture to individuals who registered, submitted a profile and received administrator approval before 15 July 2026. Profiles that were declined or not approved do not qualify for Free Membership and those individuals are not permitted to access or use the platform.
For approved members, Free Membership grants access to the core features of the platform at no charge from the platform launch date of 15 July 2026 until 11:59pm on 14 July 2027, after which a paid subscription will be required to continue using the service.
Accounts registered on or after 15 July 2026 will have limited access to the platform at no charge. A paid subscription will be required to access the core features. We may, entirely at our discretion, choose to offer a short promotional period for new accounts registered on or after this date. Any such offer is not guaranteed, may be withdrawn or ended at any time without notice, and will be communicated to eligible accounts by email or announced on our website. No promotional offer creates any ongoing entitlement or right to continued free access.
Free Membership has no cash value, is non-transferable, and cannot be exchanged for any monetary compensation or alternative benefit.
Free Membership is limited to one per individual and is conditional on continued compliance with these terms. Any breach may result in immediate withdrawal without compensation.
Free Members are entitled to access the core features of the platform at no charge during their Free Membership period as defined in this section. The photo feature is included within core features and is available to Free Members. However, any further features or services introduced after 15 July 2026 may, at our discretion, be made available on a paid basis only. Free Membership does not guarantee access to any features introduced after launch and we reserve the right to determine which features are included within Free Membership at any time.

10. Platform availability

We may take the platform offline from time to time for maintenance, updates and improvements. Where planned maintenance is likely to affect access, we will give notice where reasonably possible.
We do not guarantee the platform will remain operational for any fixed period, and we may suspend, close or discontinue it at any time. In the event of closure we will give reasonable notice where possible.
No compensation is payable to Free Members, as no fee was charged. Paid members will receive a pro-rata refund for any unused portion of their subscription.

11. Our liability

SylhetiSpouse is an introduction platform only. We review every profile before it goes live and may ask questions or contact a member by phone where something needs checking. This is a review, not identity verification. We do not verify that members are who they say they are, and you should use your own judgement when speaking to anyone you meet through the platform.
We are not responsible for the accuracy of information provided by members, or for any communications, meetings or outcomes between members after contact details are shared.
We are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, or for losses arising from your own breach of these terms.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

12. Disclaimer

The platform is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we make no guarantee that using it will result in a match or any particular outcome. This does not affect your statutory rights.

13. Intellectual property

All content on this platform, including its design and text, is owned by or licensed to SylhetiSpouse. You may not copy, reproduce or distribute any part of it without our written consent.

14. Termination

You may delete your account at any time through the platform or by contacting support@sylhetispouse.co.uk.
We may suspend or remove your account without notice if we reasonably believe you have breached these terms or submitted false information, or if we consider it necessary to protect other members.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The latest version will always be published here, and we will notify you of material changes. Continued use after that means you accept the updated terms.

16. General

If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and, where applicable, the Membership and Payment Terms, form the entire agreement between you and us.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
